Bronze Statue in Local Park
Vertical Antenna
Jeffrey went to a local park in Texas where he found a bronze statue of a local hero. Breathing new life into this one-time great orator he succeeded in making contacts using a pair of bronze statues rigged as a vertical antenna!
This is a very creative antenna, to be sure!
Bronze statues seen from a distance
Do you see the small wire trailing away from between his feet?
Wire easily seen
This is the 'toe-hold' on the lower statue
Both wires fed from an Altoid's mint can 'break out box'
Also note the coax choke coiled very neatly and tightly around the PVC form - nicely wrapped!
Closer look at the Altoids mint break out box
Closer look at the 'toe-hold' -- a vice grip clamps the free end of the wire to a bolt
A similar connection takes place on the primary statue above -- leaving public property intact
Here are Jeff's other k0s strange antennas displayed on this web site:
Thanks Jeffrey. This was a very, very strange antenna, and in the Public Eye as it were. Glad you didn't get run off by the Park Police!
Thanks for playing radio with us, and it was really great to actually speak with you on the air. I hope we can catch you again next year.
Speaking with fellow K0S stations is possibly the most fun we have each year!
