| TITLE: | Experiment #9 | OBJECTIVE(S): | Make "sugar beer" with partial recipe. The idea is we should be able to make effective beers while reducing the amount of starting yeast. This is the first experiment along these lines. | GO/NO-GO: | GO | SUMMARY: | The yeast appears to have worked as it does with a normally proportioned batch of beer made with "turbo" yeast. | NEXT ATTEMPT: | Will further reduce the percentage of yeast, while keeping all other ingredients to the original recipe amounts. |
6-1/2 pounds of sugar. |
1/2-Batch of 24-Hour Turbo Yeast 11-quarts of water at 105*F and 6-1/2 pounds of sugar. |
15-minutes later, fermentation is evident |
24-Hours Later Fermentation is still happily bubbling away! |
48-Hours Later |
3rd Day Siphoning sugar beer into glass carboy |
15% ABV (Alcohol By Volume) |
Settling in Carboy After several days will re-siphone. This helps remove dead yeast & clears the sugar beer somewhat. |
