| TITLE: | Experiment #4 | OBJECTIVE(S): | Test the digital thermometer we are using to measure the temperature at the "Separator Module" and determine if boiling water does in fact measure 212*F. | GO/NO-GO: | GO (Successful test, however the thermometer is NOT 100% accurate.) | SUMMARY: | Thermometer does NOT measure 212*F when immersed in boiling water, nor when in the vapor of the boiling water. | NEXT ATTEMPT: | n/a |
This experiment has determined this thermometer does NOT measure boiling water as 212*F. Nor did it read the vapor as 212*F.
Boiling water on the stove top. Temperature stabilizes at 210*F, although I have seen 209*F quite often, and only very briefly 211*F. I suspect the 211*F was primarily a result of touching the bottom of the kettle. |
This reads 210*F, with the thermometer in the spout of the boiling kettle.. |
210*F in the boiling water. |
...211*F in the boiling water... Careful! It's hot! |
