"Antenna & Transmatch Evaluation Field Manual" K0S Field Manual, 1st Edition Errata Sheet ****************************************** APRIL 2005 ********** (1) Chapter I. Section entitled "Calculating 1/4 Wavelength". The third paragraph shows the "basic formula" for converting a given frequency of radio wave into its corresponding length as measured in meters. THE FORMULA RESULTS IN METERS, NOT METERS SQUARED. The superscript "2" just before this lines final period is referring to an end note, not the mathematical function of squaring the result. This may be confusing. CHANGE: "The basic formula is: 300 / frequency in MHz = meters2." (Where the "2" is a superscript, referring to end note #2.) TO: "The basic formula is2: 300 / frequency in MHz = meters." (Where the "2" is a superscript, referring to end note #2.) (2) Chapter III. The first two diagrams in this chapter are both entitled "Dipole Height Affects Impedance" - the only difference are the end notes following the diagram title. The first diagram is correctly titled (it has the end note #12). The second diagram needs to have the proper title overwriting the one presently there. The end notes are correct in both cases (end note #12 for the first diagram and end note #13 for the second diagram in this chapter). CHANGE: "Dipole Height Affects Impedance13" (Where the "13" is a superscript, referring to end note #13.) TO: "Vertical Length Affects Impedance13" (Where the "13" is a superscript, referring to end note #13.) (3) Section discussing "Trouble Shooting". Find the section about testing long runs of coax, which is entitled "Losses Due To Long Coax Run." THIS IS WRONG - it has nothing to so with testing your coax, regardless of the coax length. Disregard this example entirely. (4) Several times the ARRL is referred to incorrectly. Please change "Amateur Radio Relay League" to the "American Radio Relay League" (not "Amateur" but "American").
